1974/5 is actually quite a late one, seeing as the engine was in production as a 2 litre diesel in 1956....  There are a variety of chains, relative to the tensioner type fitted, whether 3 or 5 bearing, and also the 2.5 petrol had a different set up. Did you buy the parts by chassis or engine number? Also, where chains are concerned, by the heaviest duty you can, rather than the cheapest.
