PDWA
« on: 13 October 2012, 01:40:24 pm »
Can anyone tell me if the switch on the PDWA valve would be normally open or normally closed?

I'm suspecting that mine may have shuttled across while bleeding the brakes.

I don't have the associated wiring fitted to mine so I'm having to use a multimeter set to continuity across the terminals and am getting a tone on the meter which to me indicates that the shuttle has gone one way or the other.

I can't find a wiring diagram showing this so can't work out how it should operate.

I agree with your conclusion  I had one fitted to my motor but being military set up it had the wiring and the light on the dash, the light lit if the shuttle moved but was out as standard, if you press the button as a test it would make the circuit to show the light working... So your theory makes sense, all you have to do to release it is to unscrew one of the opposite bleed nipples, eg if you were working on the front and it has activated the PDWA valve then just undo one of the rear bleed nipples and visa-verse, this should release the pressure and center the valve.... Best thing I ever did was to replace mine with through joints, no more brake problems  :smilewide:

I'm thinking the bin may be the best place for it also. But the vehicle is needed this week and I don't hold much hope of getting any through joints today or tomorrow.

I've tried the manual way of resetting the valve but I'm not having much luck :(

I think I have one sat on a chassis here...... uncertain if metric or Imperial, and has been sat outside with some of the pipes removed. FOC if you need it.

Thanks for the offer Jim, but having taken mine of with a view to dismantling I now know how the lying **** bag switch works.

The two pins on the switch are joined and act as a pass through to the vac loss switch. The switch grounds out through the body of the PDWA,  so my valve was found to be still centralised  :banghead.

So tomorrows job will now be re bleeding the not so funny comedy brakes. :haha:
