Measurement Request
« on: 21 November 2012, 08:54:38 pm »
I'm fitting an oil filler to the top of my gearbox this weekend and am hoping to do this with out taking out the floor and transmission tunnel.

Has anyone a transmission tunnel they could measure for me please?I need the distance between the rear of the tunnel and the rear edge of the hole that the rubber bung sits in.

Thanks Drums, but that looks to be the hole on the side? I'm looking for the hole on top behind the square gear stick hole, I think they were normally found on SIII military motors.

Hi Again - Why not look out for an early Series II gearbox tunnel.  It already has the access hole and cover you want in it.

Cheers - Matt

Early series 2 items are hard to find!

Edge of hole is 3 1/2" from rear edge of tunnel. Offset on mine is to the offside slightly. Edge of hole is about an inch from the tunnel side if that makes sense?

Mine is three and a quarter from the rear edge and slightly off set to the drivers side.

Before any with eagle eyes tells me I've left off the spring clip, I know 'tis all held together with cable ties for the moment.
