Help getting it started??
« on: 15 April 2013, 08:53:57 pm »
Ok I'm trying to get my S2 started, it's been a while since I played with a points setup petrol car!!
The old grey cells are getting a bit tired and forgetful..
2 thing are obviously wrong
1, no spark, although I have power at the coil?
2, not a problem yet as I'm gravity feeding the carb but the electric fuel pump seems dead?
A splutter with some easy start would be a step in the right direction.

Screw driver opening and closing points when ig is on - should spark.
If not praps coil is knacked

Fuel pump might just need a "tap" with something blunt to remind it to move :rolleye0012:

As for the ignition as Alex says, coil- to disi, check the leads, then lever the points open should be a spark. if yes there, reset the gap, cap back on, take each plug out, reset the gaps while you are there, check for sparks there.  If nothing I would check the condenser.

Also worth trying at night with the lights of as you can see where the spark is leaking (ie old cables/ crack disi cap)!

Then junk it and get a lecy disi! :executioner:
