Old Leafsprung Land Rovers

Good Morning All,

Last night I replaced my throttle linkage cable and can not believe the difference, how smooth and easily the pedal actually is!! It must have needed replacing for ten years.

However I wonder if I need to adjust something, the cable wont let the linkage on the pump rest on the idle screw by about 4mm. Can the cable be wrong? should i file the cable end? or is there a way of adjusting it that I am missing?

So at the moment it smokes more than a chimney white at stand still, and still smokes black under load!

Any advise welcome.

I think I was being alot thick before. I couldn't work out where any adjustment was. But it was obvious when I was staring at it with a cup of tea , on the bar that goes across the bulkhead.

Undid that and it all moved then tightened it all up, tick over restored.

Better still bin the flap set up and fit an electric vacuum pump. Lot less smoke and improved braking.
