an earlyier avm hub with the shallower aluminium cap, these are the ones i prefer, simple and pretty robust

Early AVMs have a long body and thinish end cap with AVM cast in the middle, its all metal, kind of simular in shape to a Warn or a Selectro.
Late AVMs have a shorter body with a much deeper head on end so the overall length is about the same, the turny bit in the end is made of a flimsy plastic which is pritty **** and prone to leaking, in the centre is(was) a little stick on badge which says eather AVM or Superwinch - they are all made by AVM (in Brazil I think). I know you can get the little service kit with hex bolts, gasgets and the circlip for them from superwinch (and probubly an AVM dealer, if they are still importing them) but if its leaking round the selecter knob they might not be fixable, I swapped mine for some MAPs for that resion.

AVMs usually have AVM cast into them, superwinches have stickers, at least the new ones do.

Went out in Fungus today and both the freewheel hubs have decided to spew oil all over the rims so looks like a repair is in the offing. The only problems are:
A) I am not sure what FWH's are fitted to Fungus they look like AVM's (but they also look like super winch ones as they are black not red)
B) rang DLS today about AVM'S repair packs and they only stock 24 spline kits not 10 spline kits
Does any one know if the gaskets are the same and if AVM'S and super winch FWH'S are the same(as they look very similar in pictures I have seen)
