Forum Rules and Notices / FORUM RULES
« Last post by OLLR on 26 June 2013, 10:07:43 am »
WARNING: OLLR is not a "family friendly" forum. It's full of nasty people who swear a lot and who don't do political correctness. Unless you've got a thick skin and don't mind bad language then move along and find another forum that suits you better.

RULES:

1:-The title of the forum is OLD LEAF-SPRUNG LAND ROVERS. That's what we're about, not about coil-sprung Land Rovers or the hairdressers' car that is Freelander so don't ask questions about them or post pictures of them. If you own one, keep it to yourself - we aren't into that sort of filth.

2:- Although we are fairly relaxed about postings, it isn't a democracy, nor is it a free-speech free-for-all.

3:- You will toe the line, or you will be banned. We don't care either way. What we say goes.

4:- Moderators do not have to explain themselves to anyone for any reason.

5:- We prefer members to participate and post so those who do not may find their accounts deleted without notice. The best way to start is to post in the Welcome section. If you never post then you are missing out on some sections of the forum.

6:- The Tap Room section is for off-topic subjects, jokes etc. Politics, Race and Religion are banned subjects.

7:- The For Sale / Wanted section is there for members to advertise LAND ROVER parts or vehicles. Do not post links to internet auction sites in there unless you are the seller. If you cannot view the For Sale / Wanted section that is because this is a priviledge that you have not yet earned. DO NOT post ads in any other section of the forum!

8:- If you've come from other forums or clubs where you may have fallen out with the admins or management, don't think you can come here and start ranting about them - we don't care what happens on lesser fora and neither does anyone else - see rule 3.

9:- OLLR is not a club and there is not "somebody". Don't say why doesn't "somebody" do something - if you have an idea then you do it. Anyone can arrange a greenlane trip or workshop meet.

10:- If you are intending to arrange something outside the forum, don't use the name OLLR without our permission - it's not yours to use is it?

11:- There is no swear filter and we have no intention of adding one. If you are not comfortable with the use of profanities or are afraid that your children may read them then it's up to you to prevent them from doing so - we are not nannies to your children!

12:- Do not use text speak! No M8, LOL, u, cu, or any of that crap. It's annoying, unintelligable and lazy. You have a fully functioning keyboard in front of you - use it! Our word censor is adjusted to sift-out some of the more pointless and meaningless of these.

Forum Rules and Notices / The Forum - a guide for N00bs
« Last post by OLLR on 26 June 2013, 10:06:17 am »
This section of the forum is for the joeys who can't work the forum without someone holding their hand. You can ask questions here on subjects related to using the forum. A guide on various features will be found below and we will add to this as topics arise.

You will also find the forum rules posted elsewhere in this section - read them - it'll save us all a lot of hassle in the long run if you happen not to agree with them by posting to let us know so we can terminate your account.

Why do I have to wait for my posts to be approved before they appear?
Because you are a noob, you've crawled out of the primordial soup that is the internet and could be some kind of wacko for all we know. We can't have every Tom, Dick or Harry posting as soon as they sign up. You may a spammer selling drugs, **** or cheap booze (and if so the forum admin get first dibs on that sort of thing but we demand free samples) so we have to be sure that you're not any of those things. You have to make an undetermined number of posts and prove to us that you're either not spamming (or that you'll give us freebies if you are), a wacko or any other undesirable before we let you loose.

Q: Why can't I fill in my profile or add an avatar?
A: Because you haven't yet earned the right. To have the right to use this feature you must make at least two posts. Note that posting in this section will not count toward these.

Q: Why isn't there a classifieds section?

A: There is, it's just that if you can't see it then you haven't yet earned the right to. The same applies to other sections.

Q: How do I embed youtube vids in a post?

A: Do not use the "embed" thing on youtube. Simply copy the url of the vid from your browser and the forum will do the rest. However, if there are extraneous letters and numbers due to the link being from a reffering page you may need to remove these. Check by previewing your post and remove as neccessary until the vid shows in your preview

Q: How do I post pictures?

A: Create an account on photobucket.com and upload your pictures to it. To post them on the forum you must place the cursor over the pic that you want and, when the drop-down appears, click the IMG code. You then paste this into your message.

Q: How do I link with words?
A: Use the URL tag. There is no button function for this,  so if you want to do it you will have to 'hard code' it. Below is an example of this:

{url=www.ollr.net}Clicky{/url}

Subsitute the {} for the [],  the end result should be: Clicky
